The wasp nest removal service in Henley
Wasp nest Removal
If the nest is within physical reach of the technician, we will place a refuse bag beneath the nest and inject a powerful pesticide powder into the interior, the pesticide is incredibly fast acting and within 15 to 20 minutes the nest will then be placed in the bag and removed. There will be worker wasps out hunting for insects and these stragglers will soon fly off; without the presence of the Queen wasp giving off her pheromone these workers have no instructions to defend the nest and so pose no hazard.
Void Wasp Nest Treatment
Its common to find that the wasps have built their nest someplace difficult to access like deep inside a cavity wall or down inside the soffit box where there is no direct way of getting at it, we will be unable to remove the nest in this instance. Once again we will use the insecticidal powder and inject this into the void immediately where the wasp nest is. The powder will penetrate the void finding its way into the nest and here it will kill off all the wasps along with the Queen. Those workers that are out hunting for insects will fly back to the nest and come into contact with the residue powder; this will kill them off over a period of 4 to 6 hours. Generally all activity will cease within 24 hours of the treatment.
Non Toxic Lures
We also offer lures that you can place outside of the property which entice the worker wasps away from communal areas like patios; these lures are hanging traps that physically attract and catch the wasp. One advantage of using these lures is that they are selective; only attracting wasps and not honeybees. These traps work if you don’t like wasps and want them to keep your patio and BBQ area free from visiting wasps. These traps are 100% pesticide and toxin free as well as being totally maintenance free – there is no need to clean or empty; simple hang up the trap, the wasps get drawn in and at the end of the summer just throw the trap away.

How many species of wasps are there in the UK?
There are many species of wasps, around 9000 in all and most of these are solitary wasps that prey on insects and pose absolutely no hazard to us, this wasps don’t sting they deposit their eggs inside the bodies of their prey. The wasps that carry a stinger are the ones that we all wish to avoid, and we deal with 9 species of colony building wasps and hornets and these are the ones that cause so many problems for people

We have seen a wasp nest in our loft, do they live in there over the winter?
The Queen wasp is the only member of the colony to survive into the winter, she will find herself somewhere dry and with a stable temperature to hibernate. The Queen wasp will emerge in the spring where each Queen starts the process of building a colony again. The Queens emerge March or April and they will not re-use an old nest; each nest that you see was built for just the single season.
Where do wasps build their nests?
The simple answer to that is anywhere; there are certain species like the Saxon wasp that will build a nest in a bush and these are often quite low hanging. They build a small (think rugby ball size) nest which is grey in colour and quite difficult to see in the shade of the bush. Other species of wasp will build inside cavity walls, in lofts and even excavate a hole and build the nest in the ground and its not uncommon to make a painful discovery when mowing the lawn. A new species to arrive in the very South East of the country is the paper wasp and these build without the iconic outer sheath – they only build a honeycomb.
How many wasps will you find inside a nest?
The answer to that varies between the different species and for two most commonly seen wasps; the Common wasp and the German wasp they can range into several thousand. Generally, the numbers sit in the high hundreds topping out in the low thousand; hornets which are twice the size of wasps, will have smaller size colonies although they will pack a greater punch so avoid getting near one of these.
